My six year old son spent a week "ReWilding" in September 2012. It was amazing to witness the small changes in him throughout the week; to listen to him speak of his experiences; and to see the sheer joy and excitement in his eyes each day. From building a shelter, to listening to Dreamtime stories, to eating yabbies and witchetty grubs: these were experiences he will always remember.  

He found a real connection with the bush, and also in the mentors and the other children.

Lee has an incredible gift in his ability to connect with children. He captivates them, motivates and inspires them, and the children (and parents!) instinctively trust him. It was a delight to meet both Lee & Gina. 

Since coming home, it is apparent that my son is much more in tune with his environment, and the world around him. He doesn't just look at a landscape: he sees it. He sees the birds and notices what they are doing; he hears the insects; he feels the breeze on his bare arms. He notices individual trees, not just the bush as a whole.

ReWild Your Child is something every child - every person - should experience at some point in their lives. I'd recommend it to anyone and it was an honour to participate. We'll be back!

My two sons went for a week of adventure with Bluegum Bushcraft, Sebastian 9 and Dominic 5.

My boys are relatively familiar with the bush. But.. The experience these boys got from going into the bush with Lee and the tribe is so much more.

Sebastian has had alot of trouble with school in his first four years, challenged confidence in all areas, he is not a team sport boy, not a great reader, just generally unsure of where he belongs. He has always been highly sensitive, and at times very emotionally challenging at home as he unravels the frustration of the school day.

When he has been in the bush with Lee, he knows who he is and where he belongs he is calm and confident and thoughtful of his surroundings. This effect has carried through to his school life, he is able to concentrate better , he is getting improved results with reading and writing, His is attempting tasks on his own, He is confident enough to give it a go, it’s like the stress (the 'where do I fit?' stress) got out of the way in his mind and now he can think clearer. 

As for Dominic, he has got more understanding about team work and developing respect for the differences in personalities and how to deal with challenging situations interpersonally. 

Both my boys beg to go back, they love it so much they are nourished and glowing when I pick them up.

The team at Bluegum Bushcraft is an exceptional group of highly skilled people with calm respectful generosity towards their knowledge and care.

I highly recommend the Bluegum Bushcraft experience to anyone who wants to create a stronger connection to the personality of their child, it’s amazing how the bush strips it back to just who we are without all the other stuff.
